Dattopant Thengadi ji

Dattopant Thengadi was the nationalist trade union leader of India and the founder of Bharatiya Mazdoor Sangh, Swadeshi Jagran Manch, Bharatiya Kisan Union.

The future century will be called the “Hindu century”, a genius philosopher defining the faith in ideological contexts of ideological legends such as Dr. Hedgewar, Shri Guruji, and Pandit Deendayal Upadhyaya, who gave ideological density. He formulated the work of the welfare of the workers and peasants. Dattopant was a visionary philosopher who developed an understanding of the workers and Vyasangi scholars.

Early Life

Nationally revered sage Shree Dattopant Ji Thengadi was born on 10 November 1920, on Diwali, in a village called Arvi in Wardha district of Maharashtra.

Dattopantji’s father was Shri Bapurao Dajiba Thengadi, a well-known advocate, and mother, Shrimati Janki Devi, full of serious spiritual interests, Sakshata Karunamurthy, and an ardent devotee of Lord Dattatreya. He had a younger brother Sri Narayana Thengadi and a younger sister, Mrs. Anusuya.

Respected Dattopant Ji education up to 11th, was completed at Arvi Municipal High School. Since childhood, his brilliant talent and leadership potential were discussed everywhere.

At the tender age of 15, he became the president of the “Vanar Sena” of Arvi Taluka. The following year, he was elected President of the Municipal High School Arvi’s Student Union.

In 1936, he completed his graduation from Nagpur’s “Maurice College” and then completed his law degree from the Law College of Nagpur. While studying at Maurice College, he was associated with the revolutionary organization “Hindustan Socialist Republican Association” from 1936-38.

Contact with Rashtriya Seva Sangh

Dattopant Ji Thengadi used to visit the Sangh branch since his childhood. In December 1934, he visited a cold camp in Wardha district where he had the privilege of hearing the address of Holiness Doctorji for the first time.

Although he was an irregular Swayam Sevak, after coming to Nagpur, Dattopant Ji, under the guidance of his classmate and headteacher Mr. Moropant Ji Pingale, he completed the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh‘s education classes for the third year.

Since 1936, having studied in Nagpur and befriended the honorable Moropant Ji, Dattopant Ji has had the privilege of seeing and listening to His Holiness Doctor directly. Later, he got the privilege of receiving the immense affection and constant guidance of Guruji.

Dattopant Ji as a Preacher

On 22 March 1942, he accepted the challenging responsibility of the RSS Pracharak. He reached “Calicut” (Kozhikode) to expand the Union in remote Kerala province.

From 1942 to 1945, in addition to raising the glorious work as a Sangh Pracharak, he took up the responsibility of being a Sangh Pracharak in Calcutta from 1945 to 1947, and a Bengal-Assam Pracharak from 1948 to 49, a Sangh Pracharak.

At this time in the national scenario, the nationwide satyagraha against the sanctions imposed on the Sangh and the unjust ban by the patriots by pretending to the circumstances arising out of the Partition of India, and the assassination of Pujya Mahatma Ji.

Meanwhile, in June, the interaction with the government decreased rapidly. And in the mediation of Sri Venkataram Shastri, the government withdrew the ban imposed on the union. In such a challenging time, revered Dattopant Ji was called back from Nagpur to Nagpur.

Establishment of Student Council (Vidyarthi Parishad)

ABVP was found by Dattopant Thengadi ji for welfare of students

On July 9, 1949, a formal announcement was made to establish the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad. And, Dattopant Ji was given the responsibility as the founding member of Vidyarthi Parishad and the state president of Nagpur Vidarbha. Shri Dattaji Didolkar was given the responsibility of General Secretary and Babanrao Pathak as the Organization Minister.

The Vidyarthi Parishad established good relations with the government in Nagpur-Vidarbha. The Vidyarthi Parishad continued the order of calling the Chief Minister, Home Minister, Finance Minister, Governor, etc. all in their festivities.

Under the leadership of Food Minister Gopal Rao Kale, which was running more food grains, the Vidyarthi Parishad supported it with full vigor. In Baroda, Fatori, and Gumthala, there were successful experiments for preparing compost manure under the government scheme. The regional government also gave proper fame to these efforts of Vidyarthi Parishad through a documentary.

In the words of Shraddhaya Dattopant Ji, “Our executive thought of getting the speech of deserving persons on some important topics for the students. Speeches were made by well-qualified professors on important topics coming up in regular practice.

The executive made the idea that students should be aware of some important subjects even outside the course. One of the subjects chosen for this was “History of Madhya Pradesh Mazdoor Andolan”, in connection with this subject, President of Regional INTUC Shri P.Y. Deshpande decided to talk with him. Accordingly, I went to him, though we had a family relationship with him. Today, he was the father of Kumari Nirmala Deshpande, the president of Harijan Sevak Sangh and a member of Rajya Sabha. I got my subject in front of him, he said angrily, “Let all these useless things remain, today the communists are facing the biggest crisis in the working class of the country. He is the puppet of Moscow. It is necessary to stop their influence in the labor sector. From this point of view, you come into INTUC yourself, and bear some responsibility here.” I said that I will think seriously about it.

After coming back, told this thing to Sri Guruji. I did not like going to INTUC. Because all the leaders of INTUC used to condemn the Sangh as Gandhi assassin. How can I work with such people?

But I was surprised to see Shri Guruji’s reaction. He said that Mr. P.V. Deshpande’s invitation is a golden opportunity for us. I also wish that we have workers who know the method of working in the labor sector. That is why you accept this invitation and work in INTUC with the Vidyarthi Parishad itself.

After a few days, Shri Deshpandeji told me that the suggestion to invite me was from Home Minister Shri Dwarkaprasad Ji Mishra. He had his eyes on all my works.

At that time there were two groups in INTUC. One ministerial and the other anti-ministerial was Dr. Decatte, head of the anti-ministerial group. He was a skilled organizer.

He increased his influence in INTUC. No other efficient organizer was in the ministerial group than him. Due to this, the ministerial group was weakened.

What should be done for this, it was discussed in Shri Deshpande Ji and Dwarkaprasad Ji. In this discussion, Dwarkaprasad Ji said, Deshpande Ji should invite me to INTUC. He also expressed confidence that this person will be able to compete with Dr. Decatte successfully. Deshpandeji invited me to this background. “

Will of Sri Guruji and Enter the labor sector

It was only in 1949 that His Holiness Shri Guruji asked the revered Dattopant Ji to study the labor sector. Thus began a new chapter in the life of Dattopant Ji.

It seems, as if, the labor movement was a God-given task for Dattopant Ji. During the public awareness programs of the Vidyarthi Parishad, Mr. P.Y. Deshpande, the state president of the Indian National Trade Union Congress (INTUC), related to the Congress. Deshpandeji had good contact.

Taking advantage of that, Dattopant Ji entered INTUC. Based on their talent and organization skills, in a short time, no unions related to INTUC made revered Thengadi Ji their official. In October 1950, Shri Dattopant Ji was made a member of the National Council of INTUC and was also elected the State Organization Minister of INTUC, then Madhya Pradesh.

Shraddhaya Dattopant Ji used to say – “It was the insistence of the revered Sri Guruji that it is not enough to know the working of INTUC only. The working of communist unions and socialist unions should also be known.

Shraddhaya Dattopant Ji started efforts in this direction and during the period from 1952 to 1955, Shri Dattopant Ji was the Minister of Provincial Organization of the Communist influenced “All India Bank Employees Association” (AIBEA).

From 1954 to 55, he became the President of the Central Circle (ie present-day Madhya Pradesh, Vidarbha, and Rajasthan) of a postal labor organization named R. M. S. Employees Union.

It was in this period (1949 to 1955) that Mr. Thengadi studied Communism deeply. He used to have a detailed discussion with the revered Shri Guruji for many hours of the night on the subjects of communism, knowledge, and working methods of communists.

Establishment of Bharatiya Mazdoor Sangh

BMS was found by Dattopant Thengadi ji for welfare of labourers

Thus on the occasion of the 99th birth anniversary of Pujya Lokmanya Tilak, the Bharatiya Mazdoor Sangh was established as an All India Central Workers’ Organization at Bhopal on 23 July 1955, in the presence of 35 delegates from other provinces of the country.

On the strength of the ideological establishment of Sanatan Dharma, supernatural organization Kaushalya, the culmination of diligence, unwavering devotion, victorious faith, and the continuous guidance of Pujya Shri Guruji, the revered Dattopant Ji, in just three decades, the largest of that time, and the Congress The labor organization Indian National Trade Union Congress overtook INTUC

In 1989, the Bharatiya Mazdoor Sangh had a membership of 31 lakhs, which was more than the membership of the Communist parties, AITUC, and CITU.

In 2002, the Bharatiya Mazdoor Sangh became the largest labor organization in India with a membership of 81 lakhs, far more than the total membership of all other central labor organizations in the country. Today, according to the census of 2012, the membership of Bharatiya Mazdoor Sangh is more than 1 crore 71 lakh.

Based on Hindu values of life, created a non-political and ideological view from nature, a national organization called Autonomous and Autonomous Bharatiya Mazdoor Sangh.

Pujya Shri Guruji said in a Thane meeting on November 1, 1972, “When the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh workers thought that the Bharatiya Mazdoor Sangh should work independently in the labor sector and its organization should stand up to them, it was handed over to them. He worked very hard, sympathy and support of his workers would be little, but he did this work alone, which is called ‘Single-Handed’ in English. Now the trade union of Bharatiya Mazdoor Sangh has also become quite strong and it has become a force in the labor sector. Its effect is increasing. There is a situation now that the other organizations which work in the labor sector, they have fewer people who give concrete ideas, they try to increase their popularity only by making a ‘ho halla’, depending on the movement. The ability to give concrete, worthy consideration for the labor sector is still visible to us in this Bharatiya Mazdoor Sangh.”

The emergence of a great man

How was the relationship between Pujya Shri Guruji and Dattopant Ji? I want to use the literary language of the honorable P. Parameshwaran Ji. Shri Parameswaran Ji writes, “Sri Dattopant Ji Thengadi was among the few people who were able to understand the mind of His Holiness Shri Guruji. If His Holiness Sri Guruji was a Gangotri originating from the Himalayas of Sanatan Dharma, Dattopant Ji had the opportunity to dip deep into that holy water. “

In the period of the establishment of the Bharatiya Mazdoor Sangh, the revered Dattopant Ji was simultaneously discharging many parallel responsibilities of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh.

In the same period, a founding member of Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad since 1949, Organization Minister of Hindustan News, 53 from 1951, Minister of Organization, Bharatiya Jana Sangh, Madhya Pradesh 57 Organization Minister from 1956, Bharatiya Jana Sangh, Dakshinchal.

Illustrating Dattopant Ji’s personality, Bhanupratap Shukla writes, “Simplicity of living, comprehensiveness of study, depth of thought, dedication to the goal, clarity of goal, continuity of practice and belief in the success of work, Mr. Thengadi ‘S personality.”

Dattopant Ji was elected to the Rajya Sabha from Uttar Pradesh twice from 1964 to 1976. When it was decided to go to the Rajya Sabha, Dattopant Ji says, “I asked Pujya Shri Guruji that I am sending him to Rajya Sabha. Shri Guruji said humorously, “Go, give a speech, relax, have worked very hard.”

There is also the opportunity to establish personal discussions, personal relationships, personal friendships with senior people of ideologies, which can be useful for their work in the future.” His Holiness Shri Guruji, how far forward he thought, this.

The matter came to the notice during the countrywide movement against the Emergency. During the tenure of the Rajya Sabha, due to the very personal relationship of the revered Dattopant Ji with all the major political leaders of the country, from the socialists to the communists, it became easy to cooperate and trust everyone in the anti-emergency movement.

He was a member of Rajya Sabha from 1964 to 1976, he performed many important duties of Rajya Sabha. From 1968 to 70 he was an honorable member of the Board of Vice-President of Rajya Sabha. From 1965 to 66, was a member of the House Committee of Parliament. Member of Committee on Public Industries from 1968 to 70.

Visit Soviet Russia and interview Communism

In 1969, under the chairmanship of Lok Sabha Speaker Shri Neelam Sanjiva Reddy, and Secretary-General of Rajya Sabha Shri B.V. K. Under Banerjee’s ministership, the Indian Parliament delegation decided to go to Soviet Russia.

At that time Shri VV Giri was the President. Shri VV Giri proposed the name of revered Dattopant Ji to go to this parliamentary delegation. Mr. VV Giri, who himself was related to the labor sector, wanted that, what is the nature of industrial relations in Soviet Russia?

By studying it closely and in an absolute sense, proper information is obtained, because after some time Mr. VV Giri was also going to visit Russia.

He was accompanied by a senior leader of the Communist Party, Mr. Hiren Mukherjee, and Mr. Shilabhadrayaji of the Forward Bloc, during his 16-day visit to Soviet Russia. With this delegation, the Soviet traveled to Russia and Hungary for 16 days.

The visit to Russia was an unprecedented opportunity for revered Dattopant Ji to study the true nature of communism closely. After experiencing the hollowness of communist ideology and, directly, the contradictions of communist ideology, the revered Dattopant Ji, while confidently self-confidently assured the nation that, “Communism is going to end automatically, due to its contradictions, to communism One does not have to make an effort to end it. ”Across the country, in his address,

Mr. Dattopant Ji announced this, at that time half the world was waving a red flag. No knowledgeable person believed such a thing, far away, even thinking, it was not wise, such an accurate analyst, Dattopant Ji, today, the result is in front of us all.

Dattopant Ji’s visit to China

From April 3 to April 19, 1985, at the invitation of the All-China Federation of Trade Unions, under the leadership of the revered Dattopant Thengadi, the Indian trade union delegation visited China.

The delegation included Shri Manhar Bhai Mehta, Shri Ras Bihari Maitra, Shri Venugopal, and Shri Om Prakash Agdhi. During the 17-day visit to China, Dattopant Ji studied the social life, industrial relations, labor organizations, polity of China very closely.

During the visit, there was a detailed discussion with the Chinese labor leaders, administrative officials, leaders of the Communist Party. On the occasion of the farewell of the delegation, China Radio recorded the farewell message of the revered Dattopant Ji, who, after he visited China on 28 April 1985, during his country-wide stay, said publicly that he said, ‘ “In China, there is only communism for the name, China has left communism.”

He expressed happiness that, China’s trade unions, B.V. M / s. After extensive study of the workings of ICAR, we were invited. He said that, B.V. M / s. The trilogy of “industrialization of the nation, laborisation of industries, and nationalization of labor” was all praised.

Establishment of Indian Farmers Union

Kisan Sangh was found by Dattopant Thengadi ji for welfare of farmers

On the occasion of the birth centenary of Baba Saheb Ambedkar, he established the Social Harmony Forum on 14 April 1983 in Pune. It was a happy coincidence that on this day Pt. E Doctor’s birthday was also a year-old counterpart.

“Social equality is impossible without social harmony.” By announcing this motto, Shraddha Dattopant Ji paved the way for the treatment of the most painful disease of Hindu society.

The revered Thengadi had the good fortune of being close to Pujya Baba Saheb Ambedkar. Pujya Baba Saheb had a great opportunity to understand the anguish of his heart. To carry out the great work of the unity of Hindu society at the inception of the all-inclusive Sanatan Hindu religion, he initiated guidance through the social harmony platform. In this series, Sarvapanth Samadar Manch was established on 16 April 1991 in Nagpur.

Struggle against Economic Imperialism – Establishment of Swadeshi Jagran Manch

Around 1980, revered Thengadi started to warn the nation of imperialist intrigues of developed Goure countries. In his public speeches, activist meetings, seminars of economists, and personal conversations, he showed a clear possibility of the impending crisis on the nation.

Mr. Thengadi Ji cautioned that “The World Bank, the International Monetary Fund and, multinational companies, are the new weapons of exploitation of the western whites, through which the whites are using the same price and punishment.”, Cultivating and developing underdeveloped countries.

The General Agreement on Tariff and Trade (GATE), which was established on 1 January 1948, had only one subject, international trade in goods.

In 1986, during the Uruguay negotiations of the Gate Agreement, the notorious Dunkel proposals agreement came to light. Till now, in GATT negotiations, there were talks about reducing customs duty on goods only.

But, in 1986, GATT President Arthur Dunkel, expanding GATT, proposed to include the trade of goods, along with the trade in goods, and bring three new topics to the table of GATT talks: –

Trade of Intellectual Property Rights (TRIPS), after extensive study of the Dunkel proposals on Trade in Investment Related Enterprises (TRIMS) and Agriculture (Agreement on Agriculture), revered Dattopant Ji, called upon the country to say, “Dunkel proposal is a document of slavery” He warned that the Indian government should reject the anti-country Dunkel proposals. Because the Dunkel proposal is about to bring about economic imperialism. The sovereignty of the nation will be in crisis. Not only did he warn the government, but to create a massive mass movement in protest against the Dunkel proposals, a call for public awareness across the country to bring enormous public pressure on the government, Bharatiya Mazdoor Sangh, Bharatiya Kisan Sangh, and many patriots Through the mass rails and demonstrations of organizations, he called for a nation-wide movement against the impending economic slavery caused by economic imperialism. He called it the Second War of Independence and founded the Swadeshi Jagran Manch in Nagpur on 22 November 1991 to run this second freedom struggle. The meeting was attended by the leading officials of five institutions of all-India nature. Which included Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad, Sahkar Bharati, Akhil Bharatiya Ghatak Panchayat, Bharatiya Kisan Sangh, and Bharatiya Mazdoor Sangh.

At the Nagpur meeting, as the convenor of Swadeshi Jagran Manch, Dr. M. G. Bokre was given the responsibility, Dr. Bokre was a well-known economist and vice-chancellor of Nagpur University. He was a staunch Marxist in the past, and he received this recognition, one of the top thinkers of the Communist Party, but over time his ideas changed and he wrote the famous book ‘Hindu Economics’. Also, Madan Das Ji Devi was given the responsibility of a national co-convenor. Despite widespread public awareness and public pressure campaigns by Swadeshi Jagran Manch, Bharatiya Mazdoor Sangh and Bhartiya Kisan Union, and many patriotic organizations, the Central Government kept the Parliament in the dark, accepting the World Trade Organization agreement by signing the Dunkel proposals.

Respected Dattopant Ji, accepting this challenge, at the Hyderabad session of the Swadeshi Jagran Manch, declared the conference a “direct war” with foreign forces, addressing the meeting of the “War Council”, and to all patriots, second to freedom Invited to participate in the fight. The strength of his call was that all the Manisha of the country was filled in the governing committee of Swadeshi Jagran Manch. Mr. Muralidhar Rao, Mr. S. Gurumurthy, Mr. Govindacharya, Mr. Ravindra Mahajan, Dr. Maheshchandra Sharma, Dr. Bhagwati Prakash Sharma, Mr. Yogananda Kale, Mr. Abraham Varghese, Mr. Arun Ojha, Mr. B.R. s. Kumar Swamy, Shri B. K. Banana, Dr. Mahesh Sharma, etc. to name only a few.

The echo of the call for another struggle for independence began to be heard everywhere, crossing the parties and ideological boundaries. Smt. Roja Deshpande, daughter of noted leftist leader Shripad Amritdange, Socialist leader Shri S.K. R. Kulkarni, former Prime Minister Mr. Chandrasekhar, noted labor leader Mr. George Fernandes, noted leftist thinker and former judge of the Supreme Court Justice V.R. Krishna Iyer, noted economist Mr. Rudradutt, noted environmentalist Smt. Vandana Siva, etc., all Lokmanya leaders provided support and strength to the call of Swadeshi. This was the strength of the call of Dattopant Ji.

He called upon the Swadeshi Jagran Manch, Bharatiya Kisan Sangh, Bharatiya Mazdoor Sangh, and all patriotic organizations and mass awareness. Through mass seminars, picketing demonstrations, across the country, mass public awareness and public pressure were generated. Through the Sangharsh Yatras, the campaign of Jan Jagran Yatras was carried out across the country. Many patriotic organizations have given strength to the Swadeshi movement in their way by extensive studies and research on the country, from Buddhist studies, in newspapers, publicity, and the wider side effects of the World Trade Organization. Among such great men, Dr. B. K. Bananas come to the forefront which extensively studied the ill effects of patent laws.

Lead the global movement

Swadeshi movement became a nationwide movement in a short period with the clear and periodic guidance of revered Dattopant Ji. The forum succeeded in maintaining constant pressure on the government through extensive public awareness and mass pressure programs across the country before the bi-annual ministerial meetings of the World Trade Union.

The first success was in Seattle. Held in Seattle. T.O. At the Ministerial meeting of the Government of India, the Minister of Commerce, Shri Murasoli Maran, courageously presented the people of India.

He held steady on the popular slogan “No New Negotiations But Re-Negotiations” of the Swadeshi Jagran Manch and the talks could not proceed. He was appreciated by all patriots. W.T.O. The next Ministerial meeting was held in “Doha”. She also could not succeed.

After that, the next ministerial meeting was held in Kankun. Before the Cancun meeting nationwide, W.T.O. Extensive demonstrations were held against There was a huge demonstration of one lakh people in Delhi. All this puts pressure on the government. India’s Minister of Commerce, Mr. Arun Jaitley, spoke broadly in favor of India at the Cancun Conference. Many African countries and Caribbean countries also supported India in the Cancun meeting and the Cancun meeting was unsuccessful.

Shraddha Dattopant Ji, while giving clear guidance on the agreement of the World Trade Organization, said that by saying “World Trade Organization is a misnomer, it is a western world, trade organization”, the whole subject would make sense. W.T.O. In protest against, he gave the famous slogan, “WTO, Break, Drop or Fold”. In fact, through the Swadeshi movement, revered Dattopant Ji successfully led the global movement.

Every election on country and religion accepted

Shraddhaya Dattopant Ji Thegadi performed the great task of establishing the relevance of Sanatan Hindu thought from time to time in his entire life. From 1948 to 49, when communism came to dominate the world stage as a big challenge, revered Dattopant Ji.

Under the guidance of Shri Guruji, he defeated the communists in his region, by establishing the Bharatiya Mazdoor Sangh and establishing the country’s largest labor organization on the establishment of Sanatan Hindu philosophy.

Rejecting both the ideologies of communism and capitalism as materialistic thought philosophy, the revered Thengadi enforced the “Third Way” based on Hindu thought philosophy, that is, the enforcement of the world order based on Hindu values of the Western world in India.

Many great legends of the system of democracy like Lokmanya Tilak, P.S. Mahatma Gandhi, Mr. Chakravarti Rajagopalachari, Mr. Manvendra Nath Rai, P.O. Shri Guruji, and Pandit Deen Dayal Ji had described the western democratic system as unsuitable for Indian social life.

The revered Dattopant Ji Thengadi, while adhering to the Hindu tradition, said that inspired by patriotism, autonomous and self-governing mass organizations will successfully play the role of impunity on the rule of power, then the state will abide by Rajdharma.

In 1986, about the Dunkel proposals and the subsequent World Trade Organization, he again pioneered a broad mass movement and serious ideological movement against the impending economic imperialism and foreign slavery on the nation to establish the superiority of the Hindu economy. And is a true expression of patriotism, given the formula of Swadeshi.

In the tradition of Guruji and Pandit Deendayal Upadhyaya, revered Dattopant Ji Thengadi performed the great task of defining the flow of nationalistic thought on the establishment of Sanatan Dharma.

For the revision of contemporary divisive politics, you performed the great task of providing an ideological and practical establishment to the alternative political process.

Shraddha Thengadi created nationalist organizations like Bharatiya Mazdoor Sangh, Bharatiya Kisan Sangh, and Swadeshi Jagran Manch, not only as bearers of change but as capable watchdog organizations before the nation. It became not only a one-way movement but a powerful means of modifying the inadequacy of modern politics. That is why the grateful nation addressed the revered Thengadi as Rishi.

Death of Dattopanth Ji

On October 14 (Amavasya) 2004 in Pune, revered Dattopant Ji Thengadi became a great God. Your thoughts and wealth will continue to guide the patriots for thousands of years.
